August 16, 2017: New York NY: President Donald Trump passed groups of protesters today as he departed from Trump Tower in Midtown Manhattan. The President is under fire from both Democrats and Republicans after yesterday’s press conference where he said that “both sides” were to blame for the deaths in Charlottesville.

Protesters lined the streets with signs that read “good people don’t spew hate“ and “Not Legitimate,” among other missives. The protest was peaceful, with participants seemingly content to make their voices heard from behind NYPD barriers.

The police lined 56th St. with cars and barriers, and stationed dozens of officers in front of the Tower. Secret Service were positioned on Trump Tower rooftops and nearby buildings.

Also making an appearance at Trump Tower was former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer. Spitzer did not appear to be part of the protest, however he stopped to converse with bystanders and protesters.

Trump is returning to his resort in New Jersey after a two-day stay at his penthouse in Manhattan.
