May 23, 2017 – New York City: Following the bomb explosion at the Manchester City UK arena following the Ariana Grande concert on Monday night which killed twenty and injured more than 59 individuals, the NYPD enhanced security at high-profile locales throughout the city as a precaution.

In addition to increasing random bag checks at New York City transit outlets throughout the five boroughs, NYS Gov. Andrew Cuomo ordered state law enforcement officials to increase patrols and security at noted locations throughout the state.

More than 100 NYC Police officers gathered for a scheduled newsletter photo session on the TKTS red steps at Father Duffy Square, which also enhanced the police presence and offered visitors reassurance that Times Square is safe.

The Manchester Arena explosion was the deadliest attack on British soil since the 2005 London bombings. British police identified Salman Abedi, 22, as the suspected suicide bomber.
