The driver of a stolen pickup truck exchanged shots with police after they attempted to pull him over in Astoria, Queens Thursday night.
The incident began when two police officers had pulled over a vehicle with Florida plates because it matched the description of a pickup truck used
in the robbery of a woman earlier in the day in East Elmhurst.
The man in the stolen truck had been stopped at Broadway and Crescent street shortly before 9pm. Police say the suspect fired one shot before speeding off and clipped one of the cops who tried to stop him as he drove away. The shooter crashed the truck about a half mile away and fled on foot.
