Tuesday, November 8, 2016 – New York City: Journalists, activists, tourists, international press, and local New York City residents all took in the patriotic sights and sounds of Election Day 2016 in New York City.

International reporters, “revolutionary consultants,” and curious citizens alike were entertained and enthralled with the massive attention focused on the Big Apple for the nation’s biggest election.

President Elect Donald Trump and Democratic Presidential nominee held election-night events in Manhattan with Mrs. Clinton’s event at the Javits Center on the far West Side, and Mr. Trump’s event at the New York Hilton Midtown on Sixth Avenue.

Though tensions were running high between Democrats, Republicans, and Independents all election season, New Yorkers were safe and in good cheer thanks to the presence of the New York City Police Department. .

The NYPD closely monitored all of the the pomp and bravura of both Trump and Clinton supporters who made their presence known in the vicinity of Trump Towers and the Hilton Hotel with colorful placards, costumes, and vocal chants.

The NYPD Chief of Patrol noted that 5,000 officers were on the streets – with forces that included heavy weapons teams, counter-terrorism units, bomb-sniffing dogs, and plainclothes officers. Election Day security measures felt similar to those taken on New Year’s Eve.
